WHAT'S NEW— The Historic Hannah House is opening its doors to miscreants, murderers, and would-be detectives every Friday and Saturday night. Almost an entire decade has passed without a public performance of "Murder Most Grand," Indy's premier murder mystery dinner event. But oddly enough, a week hasn't passed that a mystery fanatic has failed to inquire about the next performance of this murderous phenomenon.

StrangeHaven Productions (the company that brought you a decade of The Mystery Café) is branching out, and reviving all of the sinister scenarios that entertained Indianapolis audiences for years. The reincarnation of "Murder Most Grand" has been christened "Simply Murder." The first show, "MALICE IN BLUNDERLAND," is a delightfully evil mystery set in the civil war era. Join us, and play out all of your base desires as you compete for the throne in this teensy tiny kingdom just off the eastern coast. Join us for an evening of fun, food, laughter and the chance to walk away as royalty...if you walk away at all!

VENUE—In 1858, Alexander M. Hannah purchased 240 acres south of Indianapolis, Indiana. On this land he built a home, known today as the Hannah House. Hannah was born in Wayne County, Indiana, in 1821. He was a harnessmaker, a farmer, and a businessman. As a farmer, he raised wheat, corn, oats, and hay, as well as livestock, including cattle, sheep, and hogs. In 1872, at the age of fifty-one, Hannah married Miss Elizabeth Jackson. This was his first marriage. Alexander and Elizabeth had no children.

It is said that the house was a station along the Underground Railroad. There is a legend that one day some slaves were hiding in the basement, and knocked over a lamp which started a fire. It is believed that some of the slaves died and were buried under the floor. Mr. Hannah collected tolls from travelers using his section of the gravel surfaced road, known as the Southport-Indianapolis Toll Road.

When Hannah died, Mr. Roman Oehler purchased the house in 1899, along with 21 acres of land around the house. When Mr. Oehler bought the house, he built a few outdoor buildings like a tool shed or a barn. Romena Oehler Elder, Mr. Oehler's daughter, inherited the house. Her children maintain ownership of the house today.

On December 1, 1978, this house was put on the National Register of Historical Places. Today, the Hannah House can be rented for parties, banquets, and receptions.

PREVUE—Now Showing: "MALICE in BLUNDERLAND"—The entire Blunder family has gathered to celebrate Helluva's 70th birthday, and hear how she has decided to divide the lands of her monarchy, Blunderland. The arrangement is simple. Join your mother for her birthday, and walk away a land baron...but what will the children do when they meet her fiancé, Judge Rhet T. Bution who may have a claim on this tiny island kingdom?

The evening's events are centered on a gourmet meal (fit for a queen) and a hunt for criminals, clues, and the treasure of Blunderland. As the guests arrive, they will be given name tags and a temporary identity, along with instructions regarding what they must accomplish during the evening. Two facilitators will help guide the crowd through the evening's events, and assist in making sure that all guests perform their particular tasks, find necessary clues, and of course, have a fantastic time!

About the Author—Aline E. Payne, aka Miss Terri Wrider, is ecstatic that the mysteries she brought to life in the historic Hannah House are being revived! In 1987, Aline was miserable as she meandered through the first murder mystery dinner that had been written by an acquaintance. Little did she know that her idle thoughts of murderous treachery that entertained her throughout the evening would catapult her to nationwide popularity. For this underemployed secretary the idea was simple. "I can do this better," she said, and she did! She began producing murder mystery dinners at the Hannah House, and later formed the company trademark Murder Most Grand! Soon, these dinners became a phenomenon, and Aline and her husband, Bill Payne, found themselves jetting around the country to facilitate the events for Fortune 500 companies.

WE TWO—StrangeHaven Productions is the result of too much time shared between a retired clown and an unemployed actor. Joe Strange and Christopher H. Jones are co-owners of The Mystery Café and the founders of this fledgling production company. After 10 years of wasting 3 to 4 victims a week, they have decided to up the body count! The historic Hannah House will host the performances of SIMPLY MURDER, and bring the unlikely duo one step closer to cornering the market on "murder" when it comes to entertainment.

It is our hope that between the presentational antics of The Mystery Café actors and the opportunity to walk away from Simply Murder a villain, StrangeHaven Productions will be the quintessential responseæto Indy's nebulous desire for "something different."
