Our author for Mystery Cafe’s entire 2008 season of plays is Nita Hardy. We have produced many of Nita’s plays in the past, including Cat on A Hot Tin Streetcar, Alabama Jones and The Trailer Park of Doom, BATS the Non-Musical, My Big Fat Greek Murder, HO HO Homicide to name just a few.
Besides writing comedy mysteries, this third generation Atlantan is also a working actress, having performed opposite Kenneth Branagh, Regina Taylor, Danny Glover and William H. Macy in films and television. She has an extensive list of stage credits at Atlanta area theatres, and is embarking on another side-line as a Hillary Clinton Look-alike...non-partisan, of course!
Nita Hardy has at one time or another had a jazz-swing band called Nita’s Band, performed original material in The New Vaudeville Festival with her troup ‘Nicadera’, was a bag lady walk-around character at an Atlanta office building during their 9 month renovation, produced a one-woman show “In-Cog-Nita”, and worked as a puppeteer, actress, and director at The Center for Puppertry Arts.
But primarily, Nita Hardy has spent the last 14 years as Artistic Director and resident playwright at Agatha’s - A Taste of Mystery in downtown Atlanta. She recently hung up her hat at Agatha’s to pursue the freelance life again. Her long list of hilarious murder mystery comedies are now available for community or professional productions. Nita lives in north Atlanta with her film-maker husband Brian, Sadie the dog, and Birdie the birdie (cockatiel, that is).
